When should I get my test?

If you’re travelling to a country that needs a negative Covid-19 result, use our calculator below to find out when you need to order your test.

Chart for calculating a 72 hour (3 day) travel window.

Having just a 72 hour window in which to take your swab before your departure can be challenging – indeed, if your flight or ferry departure is on a Tuesday or a Wednesday we advise that you either rebook your travel for a day that gives you less challenges or use a same day courier to get your sample to the lab in time.

Chart for calculating a 96 hour (4 day) travel window.

If you have been given a 96 hour window in which to take your swab before your flight or ferry departure then depending on the day of your flight or ferry, you may have a choice of days on which to take your swab. However, we strongly advise you make full use of the window and take the swab as early as the 96 hours permits.
